Glass House
Oakland-based Acoustic Fusion duo Glass House delivers soulful songs and powerhouse performances that clearly demonstrate their love for their art. Comprised of guitarist Mark Vickness and vocalist David Worm, their sound is defined by strong songwriting, often with a socio-political slant, passionate vocals, and a tasteful blend of folk, jazz, pop, rock and world music elements.
In live performances, Glass House delivers their music with a sincerity and ease that draws the audience into their world. Expressive and engaging. they create a comeraderie that is a joy to be part of. A highlight is Mark’s harp guitar, a double-necked instrument with a standard 6-string guitar on one neck and a 5-string bass guitar on the other. Mark also plays tabla, and Dave is a vocal percussionist – which is exactly what it sounds like. He recreates a variety of percussion instruments with is voice, a skill he developed during years in A Cappella groups such as Voicestra and SoVoSo, of which he is also a founding member.
With a commitment to delivering cleverly-crafted and thought-provoking songs, and fueled by their solid background and obvious love of music, it seems likely that Glass House will quickly grow into a much loved live act. If you are a fan of songwriting in the jazzy world style of Sting, and are looking for music with a positive message that’s still got some grit, check out Glass House. You’ll be glad you did!
